Really had a busy weekend.
First it was off to Detroit to spend time with Jason for his big 40th birthday. (Actually it doesn't happen for a few days but...). We were the extra guests for the weekend.
Kasias' parents are here from Poland and will be staying for a couple of weeks. It gave us a chance to see them again. We really couldn't say much to them since they only speak Polish and we only speak English. But we survive.
Really disappointed to get on the airplane and find that Delta doesn't even offer peanuts on this short flight. How long would it take to hand out peanuts? It's sad the way things have changed on flights. It took over 20,000 frequent flier miles plus a couple of hundred dollars for the tickets. I remember when 20,000 miles would get you a free trip anywhere in the US. It's not nice when they change the rules in the middle.
Gratefully, Jason had a 50 lb can of peanuts at his house. (It was probably smaller but, after not eating supper, it looked pretty big.)
Spent Saturday morning watching Adam (our oldest grandson) try out for the hockey draft in Canton. There are a whole gaggle of levels for kids, from mini-mites to mites to ???. They looked pretty cute skating for the coaches.
Lots of falls but lots of smiles. That's really what it's about.
The afternoon took us to Holly, MI to visit the Renaissance Festival. Lots of visitors dressed like the medieval times, from squires to knights to lords and ladies. Spent a couple of hours there, watched the joust (our guy lost) and walked around enjoying the grounds.
Haven't been to one of these in about 10 years, but still lots of fun.
We came back to Jason & Kasia's house and played Elfenland with her parents. With Kasia translating, they did well and seemed to have fun. Of course, we had peanuts.
