6 Feet of Separation

Just about everyone knows about the Kevin Bacon six degrees of separation.

Very few actors / actresses have not been in a movie with him. And since everyone has friends, suddenly an old high school friend of Meryl Streep feels that they are in that coveted group of Kevin Bacon attachees.

I can go one a little better. Recently one of our best friends retired from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Dave Tianen was the main pop music critic for the last 17 years and had a chance to interview every major music star over those years.

So I feel confident in saying that I'm only 1 degree of separation from Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Gene Simmons, Bono, etc. That's pretty cool.

Of course, I can even better that. I've been six feet away from JFK, Winston Churchill, John Adams (actually less than two feet away), John Quincy Adams, Benjamin Franklin, James Monroe, etc. Get it? I've visited so many graves of famous people. Usually that's the closest you can get next to them. They've got to be gone.

By the way, John Adams and John Quincy Adams have above ground crypts. Could really get close.
